Phil Gray is both an artist and designer. He has recently returned to gallery exhibiting after a long break, during which he was a full-time academic. His background in both fine art and graphic design has led him to create works that explore his obsession for lettering and typography. Using 'found' examples of signage, packaging and advertising, he creates compositions that prompt the viewer to look at their environment in new ways. These images are confluences, each carrying its own meaning into collaboration with another one or two words to create a further stream of thought.
