Nick Ellerby studied at Grimsby School of Art and gained a BA (Hons) in Fine Art at Sheffield Polytechnic.
He is a landscape artist whose painting style ranges from topographical to semi-abstract.
He is particularly drawn to quiet locations that retain a strong atmosphere of their history. This might be religious, industrial or military.
Nick is keen to record these places before they are too changed or lost forever. He employs a combination of transparent washes and thin layers of scumbled paint, combined with a vigorous but subtle geometry, until he achieves a balance and unity that he is happy with and an image that hopefully expresses some of his feelings about the places depicted
