Gary S Holt is a Norfolk based screen printer and collage maker.
The screen prints and collages are generated through a process of play and experimentation. This begins with the selection and the arrangement of found objects, collaged papers and text to form an image that is completely integrated. There is a strong design aesthetic, a thoroughly contemporary language of colour and shape.
One motivation for making the pieces is the dialogue that develops from the chance juxtapositions between the various elements. The tone of the dialogue is varied. At times the works are playful and witty where elements call to mind a variety of meanings, other pieces evoke memories and conjure particular moods. Some pieces are concerned purely with the formal elements.
