Story:
Every time she walked on a beach she told herself there was a chance. Slim to nil. If not a mermaid, maybe a seal or two, keeping watchful but inquisitive eyes on her. Definitely an oystercatcher warning her off, or unconcerned seagulls. Maybe a school of porpoises that she could imagine to be a party of mermaids, out for a lark. You never knew around here.
